Kathy is the National Sales Manager for The Alabama Theatre. Since starting with The Alabama Theatre in February of 2005, she has earned her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation. She was awarded the South Carolina Society of Association Executives (SCSAE) Associate Member Outstanding Service Award in 2006-2007, the Patsy B. Smith Award from the Association Executives of North Carolina (AENC) in 2005-2006 and in 2006-2007 she was awarded the MPI-CC Supplier of the Year as well as the MPI-CC President’s Award.
She first entered the meeting planning business in 1980 in Washington, DC for a developing/construction company. She and her husband, Mike, dreamed of the day to retire in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – golf heaven. After a short stop in Spartanburg, South Carolina working as the Assistant Registrar for Converse College their dream became a reality in 1998. Having an “empty nest” Mike and Kathy decided to relocate to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Soon Kathy realized if you were not in the hospitality industry in Myrtle Beach there were not many jobs available.
A native of Concord, North Carolina, Kathy earned her Associates Degree at the Alverson Draughton Business College and her Business Manager Degree at Clemson University. She has been an active member of MPI-CC since 2001 and a member of the Board of Directors since 2006.
Kathy has two amazing children, Aaron and Angie, and five of the most wonderful grandchildren on earth ranging from ages 4 – 17 years old. She considers learning to play golf at a “golden age” was one of the most challenging things she has ever done, but now she and her husband enjoy the time together on the golf courses in Myrtle Beach every weekend. |  |
