Joseph “Joe” Blake is employed by Destination Hotels & Resorts as Director of Sales & Marketing for the Rizzo Conference Center, UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School’s Executive Conference Center, located in Chapel Hill, NC. A twenty-year veteran of the hospitality and tourism industry, he has held sales, marketing and management positions with Embassy Suites Hotels, Omni Hotels, Starwood Hotels and Resorts and the Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau.
An active member of MPI since 1996, Joe has held numerous MPI-CC Chapter leadership roles as well as represented the Carolinas on several International Committees. His leadership service to the Chapter has included Immediate Past President, Executive Committee and Nominations Committee Chair, 2002-2003; Chapter President and Executive Committee, 2001-2002; Chapter President-Elect & Executive Committee, 2000-2001; Chapter Board Director, 1998-2000; Chapter Awards Director, 1999-2000 and Chapter Ways & Means Director, 1998-1999.
Chapter Committee service has included Leadership Development Committee, 2008-2009; Scholarship Committee, 2008, 2006, 2004.; 1999 Special Olympics World Summer Games Information committee; Chapter Meeting Planning Committee, 1996-1998 and the Chapter 25th Anniversary Task Force Committee, 1997.
Awards and accolades have included Educational Scholarship Award Recipient, 2003; Supplier Member of the Year for Carolinas Chapter, 2002; first Carolinas Chapter Leader of Tomorrow award recipient, 1999; “Pat-On-The Back” award, March 1998; Chapter Supplier of the Year award nominee, 1998 and 1999; International Leader of Tomorrow award nominee, 1999.
Service on the International level has included International Membership Committee, 2006-2007; International Brand Marketing Committee, 2003-2005; International Chapter Leadership Committee representative, 2002-2003 and Editor, International Chapter Leader E-Newsletter, 2002-2003. |  |
