Communications Team
Community Outreach
Establish and maintain a community service program in which the chapter supports a charity as a means of giving back to the community. Review local charities and make support recommendations to the board. Plan & facilitate chapters community service program, ensuring active involvement of chapter members. Ensure promotion of community outreach efforts.
Marketing Committee
The Marketing Committees primary responsibility is to generate information and gather updates from other committees for the purpose of keeping the MPI-CC website full of fresh information. This committee will be in constant contact with other committees as well as the management office to bring the latest information to the chapters newsletter editor. In addition to the website, this committee is striving to promote MPI-CCs achievements, both individual and chapter-wide, and bi-monthly meetings to the outside hospitality industry.
Public Relations Committee
The primary responsibility of the Public Relations Committee is to communicate with the media and the general public to educate and inform them of positive impact and contributions made by MPI and MPI members to the global marketplace.
Additionally, this committee generates projects that promote MPI to the public and capitalize on any media coverage and works with appropriate committees to assist in publicizing special events sponsored by the chapter.
Publications Committee
The Publications Committee is responsible for producing The Carolina Blitz, the official news publication of MPI-Carolinas Chapter. The Carolina Blitz is published six times a year and is sent to all MPI-CC members. It contains information about upcoming chapter meetings, educational presentations at meetings, news about MPI-CC members and their organizations, along with articles featuring a wide variety of topics of interest to Carolinas Chapter planners and suppliers.
Education Team
Dream Teams
Develop annual education plan in accordance with chapter strategies, MPI standards and MPI compliance requirements, ensure content of educational programs is considered to be relevant to all members and to achieve maximum attendance, select bi-monthly meeting locations.
Professional Development
The Education Professional Development Committee is responsible for planning, scheduling and implementing the education sessions for each bi-monthly meeting. The Education Committee makes all the arrangements for the main Education session, the CMP study session and Continuing Education at each meeting. The goals of the Education Committee include increasing attendance at each meeting and ensuring the speakers met the member's needs as measured by the post-meeting survey scores.
Professional Certification
The Professional Development Committee presents targeted educational programs aimed at CMP topics during the bi-monthly meetings, CMP Retention Sessions, and CMP Informational Sessions. The committees aim is to increase the number of members studying for and attaining the CMP, CMM, or CHME certifications. It forms study groups and retreats and posts information about the certification opportunities.
Meeting Planning Committee
The Meeting Planning Committee's mission is to bring MPI-CC meetings to a higher level including the production and flow of the events. Some of the initiatives the Meeting Planning Committee will address are safety and security including emergency planning; audiovisual enhancements before and during the meetings; coordination of food and beverage functions; working with venues to ensure smooth transportation to and from off-site events; and room set-ups with attention to comfort and security.
Finance Team
Advertising
Solicit advertising for all Chapter publications, submit artwork and ensure payments are submitted in a timely manner, evaluate and divide responsibilities between committee members within same markets, participate in Bi-monthly conference calls
Fundraising Committee
The Fundraising Committee's responsibility is to develop strategies to increase revenue and in-kind support for the chapter. Develop, implement and manage chapter fundraisers efforts and events, ensure promotion of fundraising efforts.
Silent Auction
The Silent Auction Committee is responsible for securing items for the silent auction that takes place during the annual chapter meeting, establish minimum bids on all items, advertise prior to meeting, set up auction tables and ensure payment from items winners.
Golf Tournament
The Golf tournament committee, seeks and secures sponsors for annual chapter golf tournament which include holes, carts, gift bags, beverage cart, tournament awards reception. This committee also orchestrates the bingo tournament that runs concurrent with the golf.
Strategic Alliances Committee
This newly formed committee concentrates on securing sponsorships to support chapter activities and programs. The sponsorships are open to all MPI members who want to build a stronger affinity with our members and increase their involvement in Chapter activities. The revenue generated through Strategic Alliances will benefit members in a variety of ways. These funds are under the direct supervision of your MPI-CC Board of Directors. This new chapter website was (in part) paid for by the funds raised through Strategic Alliances.
Membership Team
Awards Committees
The Awards Committee is charged with managing and facilitating appreciation for and recognition of the outstanding achievements of individual chapter members, and rewarding volunteer involvement on committees. Towards this end duties include spotlighting committee activity with member names in newsletter/website bi-monthly, developing a recognition tool for outstanding committees at each meeting on the President's recommendation. The committee is responsible for awarding the "Pat on the Back" Award to a non-board member for outstanding volunteer service bi-monthly.
Another primary committee responsibility is furthering the visibility and value of meeting professionals within our chapter. Annual awards are given to members in recognition for outstanding service to the chapter in the following categories: Planner and Supplier of the Year, Chapter Legacy and Tomorrows Leader.
Scholarships Committees
The Scholarship Committee is charged with managing and facilitating appreciation for and recognition of the outstanding achievements of individual chapter members by rewarding volunteer involvement on committees. Each year individual scholarships are distributed to (6) members to provide educational opportunities to our members, encourage professionalism, return benefits to our members, and encourage involvement in Meeting Professionals International.
Hospitality Committee
The Hospitality Committee concentrates on new members and first time attendees at each meeting. Each new member and first timer is assigned a Hospitality Buddy. The Buddy will contact the new members and first-timers prior to the meeting to invite them to the New Member Orientation. This committee also invites all new members to the New Member Reception, and answers any questions they may have. During the meeting, Buddies will spend time with their assigned new member and introduce them to the organization and existing MPI-CC members. The committee also assists the MPI-CC staff in registering and welcoming all members and guests.
Member Care Committee
The Member Care Committee is responsible for maintaining current membership through monthly contact with members who are due for renewal. We track anniversaries and recognize those individuals with 5, 10 and 20 years of membership at the monthly meetings. This committee also sends out e-mail reminders to attend bi-monthly meetings. Committee members are available to answer any questions members may have regarding their membership and encourage members to join committees.
Membership Recruitment Committee
The Member Recruitment Committee's primary responsibility is to increase and develop planner membership and participation. The committee's goals are to increase membership to 500 members, and to establish and promote a recruitment incentive plan. The committee is dedicated to being responsive to the needs of prospective members, and is committed to continuous improvement of services to new members. The committee conducts the New Member Orientation at each chapter meeting, conducts exit interviews with each dropped member within thirty (30) days of them dropping, and makes contact with all renewals and new members on a monthly basis.
