The Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet of the Meeting Professional International-Carolinas Chapter were held May 23-25, 2010 at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside Hotel in Wilmington, NC. At the awards banquet, outgoing MPI-CC President, Marla Amann, CMP, acknowledged the outgoing Board of Directors and welcomed the new Board for 2010-2011.

Awards were given out in five (5) separate categories to chapter member for their continuous positive contributions to the meetings industry, MPI, MPI-CC and their communities.

The winners are:
Planner of the Year: Kathy Norris, CMP, CMM, Meeting Planner, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC

Supplier of the Year: Myron Jones, CTA, Fayetteville Convention Visitors Bureau

Tomorrow's Leader: April Clark, CMP, Independent Insurance Agents of NC

Legacy Award: Lenore Donaldson, Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club

President's Award: Linda Ilsley, CMP, President & CEO, LPI Events and Amanda DeHaven, Affinity Plus

There were 2 Special Recognition Awards this year given by the President, Marla Amann, CMP, to Connie Duglin, Connie Duglin Lines and Jeannie Smith, Accents in Advertising, Inc.

We lost Catherine Voron, CMP, CMM unexpectedly in January of this year. She devoted her time and talent to the success of MPI-CC by her continued service as a respected facilitator, trainer and consultant in the meeting industry. At our May MPI-CC meeting we held our inaugural Catherine Voron Memorial Lecture on Ethics & Professionalism in Meeting Management. The Keynote speaker Terri Breining, CMP, CMM presentation was on "Ethics - A Discussion in Shades of Gray."
